It’s Football Week: Let’s End It with a Craft Cocktail called “The Tiger Tail.”

IMG_0845.JPG

Here is a great new cocktail to try!  It was really fun to make!  It’s a craft cocktail, so you only can make one at a time….but so worth it!  I had the kids surprise me and come in to town.  I had them, Auldon and Rourke taste-test this with a high approval rating to conclude!!

Here’s what you need:fullsizeoutput_16ea.jpegfullsizeoutput_16eb.jpeg

This port is really great alone for an after-dinner dessert drink.fullsizeoutput_16ec.jpegfullsizeoutput_16ed.jpegfullsizeoutput_16ee.jpegfullsizeoutput_16f4.jpegfullsizeoutput_16f5.jpeg

(not pictured:  sugar and water)

First start with an orange simple syrup.fullsizeoutput_16ef.jpeg

In a saucepan, add a cup of sugar.fullsizeoutput_16f0.jpeg

And a cup of water.fullsizeoutput_16f1.jpeg

And an orange peel.fullsizeoutput_16f2.jpeg

Bring to a boil and stir until dissolved.  Reduce to simmer and let it cook down to a thicker syrup for 15 minutes.  Let cool.fullsizeoutput_16f3.jpeg

In a cocktail shaker, muddle 3/4 cups of purple grapes until totally smashed.  Add 1 ounce bourbon, 1 ounce of port, 3/4 oz. of fresh orange juice, 1/2 oz. of orange simple syrup and one egg white.  Fill with ice.  Cover and shake around 20 times. Strain into a glass.fullsizeoutput_16f6.jpeg

Put two drop of bitters on top.fullsizeoutput_16f8.jpeg

Light an orange peel, just barely running the flame around the edge a few seconds.  This opens the aroma up.fullsizeoutput_16f9.jpeg

And, immediately rub the rim of the glass with the peel. Then drop the peel into the drink.  fullsizeoutput_16fa.jpegIMG_0847.JPGIMG_0846.JPG

This Tiger Tail will have you purring with delight and roaring for more!

Cheers!

I hate ending “Football Week”! It was SO FUN!

Toodle-oo,

Melanie
