Here’s to some things I am loving lately at L-Squared!
I am still loving the new redux guest bedroom. I should be finalizing everything this week! I can’t wait for you to see the final stage!
I am embarrassed to say that I have been neglecting my pajama drawer the past few years. I have not bought new pj’s, and it was high time I did. Especially, since we are about to go on our family vacay! I am loving these J. Crew pair I found recently at Nordstrom’s sale!
This is a “Spirited Homage to The Queen of Country,” according to the author Lauren Marino. This book exemplifies all of my life mantras, plus many more!
If you know me at all, I am a HUGE DOLLY FAN!!! I frequently listen to my scratched-up-need-a-new Dolly Parton’s Greatest Hits CD! Yes, I do still use CD’s. Old school, here! My all-time favorite song is “My Coat of Many Colors.” It makes me tear up every time, I tell ya!This book is great if you are trying to be healthy and beautiful naturally. Jolene Hart, the author, advocates freedom from gluten, alcohol, sugar, processed foods, dairy and caffeine. I am good with the first four, but am really struggling with the dairy and caffeine. I love my cheese and yogurt! And, I tried a morning without coffee and had a headache for three days. I am slowly going dairy-free. Caffeine, I just don’t know if I can break up with you!!!
She explains a lot in detail of what foods you can eat with others. For example, cheese (my love) can be eaten with fruit. I guess the French had it right all along with the cheese boards and grapes!
She also explains in great detail the hormone cortisol, which leads to all kinds of problems, from slowed metabolism to fatigue and weight gain to sleeping problems. Even diabetes!
It is a quick read, and it is one I am continuing to go back and reread. VERY interesting!Okay, remember this post, where I was “going green” slowly? And, then this post? Well, combining the two, I have two new purchases that I am loving and wished I would have bought sooner.
First are environmentally-friendly, tongue scrapers! No, they are not the newest Ancient Chinese Torture Methods, but a healthy way to get bacteria off of your tongue each morning. In Whole Beauty, Shiva Rose uses this method every morning before putting anything in her mouth. The next are these organic beeswax food wrappers. They are bio-degradable and reusable. You use them in place of plastic wrap and bags. You can wrap your sandwich in it for lunch or can cover your glass bowl of salsa until the next use. They come in three sizes, S, M, and L. You wash in cold water and hang dry. They last up to 12 months!!Now let’s talk snacks!
Apparently, it is okay to indulge in dark chocolate. I found these at Whole Foods (Tim don’t look), and they only have 1 gram of sugar in them. They come in all kinds of flavors, my favorite being the coconut. I will eat 1 square (around 50 calories) after lunch or dinner for a treat!
Speaking of coconut, these organic coconut chips are addictive. I especially love the ginger-flavored ones. They are high in calories, so I will sprinkle about a tablespoon on top of my yogurt and fruit for a little extra crunch or on top of my banana-peanut butter toast in the mornings.
As far as podcasts go, I am loving Beauty Inside and Out by Kimberly Snyder.
We have rented several movies lately and would like to recommend….
Apparently, we are on a dark movie trend?! Any comedies available to rent we need to watch?
What are you loving lately??? Would love to know!!
