Ways I Use Pictures in My Classroom

IMG_0063.JPGI thought I would every now and then give you a little insight into my other job with ideas that might be helpful to you, too.

I use pictures a lot in my classroom, so much the lady at CVS and I are on a first-name basis.

I know a lot of you readers are not necessarily teachers, but you could maybe apply these ideas at home with your children, babysitter, housekeeper, caregiver or just plain self-organization.fullsizeoutput_3334.jpegFirst of all, I use pictures to show our daily schedule.  Children always want to know what is coming next, so they are always able to look at our schedule to see what we are doing that day.fullsizeoutput_3335.jpegNext, I use laminated pictures of puzzles on a ring for children to use while putting puzzles together.IMG_9982.JPGIMG_9978.JPGIMG_9979.JPGIMG_9981.JPGThird, I use pictures to show the children how they should put things back on a shelf.  Not only is this great for sorting skills, but it keeps things organized and easy to locate.IMG_9993IMG_9984.JPGIMG_9986.JPGIMG_9987IMG_9988.JPGIMG_9989.JPGIMG_9990.JPGIMG_9991.JPGFourth, I use laminated pictures on a ring for my substitute binder.  This helps show her/him where things are and how things should be put back together.IMG_0042.JPGIMG_0043.JPGIMG_0044.JPGIMG_0045.JPGIMG_0046.JPGIMG_0047.JPGIMG_0048.JPGIMG_0049.JPGIMG_0050.JPGIMG_0051.JPGIMG_0052.JPGIMG_0053.JPGFifth, I use pictures for name recognition.IMG_9983.JPGSixth, I use pictures for class books like these below.fullsizeoutput_3344.jpegfullsizeoutput_3346.jpegfullsizeoutput_3347.jpegIMG_0036.JPGfullsizeoutput_3345.jpegIMG_0040.JPGIMG_0041.JPGIMG_0034.JPGIMG_0035.JPGIMG_0056.JPGfullsizeoutput_3349.jpegfullsizeoutput_334a.jpegfullsizeoutput_334b.jpegfullsizeoutput_334c.jpegfullsizeoutput_334dLastly, some other ways I use pictures, not pictured here are:

  1.  Laminated pictures on a ring of famous structures in the Lego or block center for building (i.e. Taj Mahal, Eiffel Tower, Great Wall of China).
  2. Laminated pictures on a ring of environmental print, like McDonald’s, Oreo, Cheezit, Burger King, Chick-fil-a, Target, traffic signs, etc. in the logo’s font, usually from a package/bag.
  3. Pictures throughout the year showing charted growth of each child taken from the same spot to highlight the growth.

Do you use pictures to organize and help your life? If so, how?  Would love to hear!!!

Toodle-oo,

Melanie

  1. Can I be in your classroom? You are
One super organized & fun teacher. A teacher all children would be blessed to have! I know why God still has you teaching. You are being a blessing to so many! Never forget it even on days when you are tired! Keep asharing all those smiles!
