Holiday Hoppin’ In Dallas

fullsizeoutput_37d7.jpegWe had a chance to go spend time with Erin and the fam in Dallas last weekend, since he was going to be working for Christmas this year.  We had a blast doing all things Christmas in Dallas.  Plus, we celebrated Pope’s third birthday with a cute little dog party.IMG_1429.JPGWe had the opportunity to stay at the pet-friendly Stoneleigh Hotel on Maple Avenue.  It is a full-service hotel in a great location near the Katy Trail, several parks and great restaurants.IMG_1434.JPG IMG_1415.JPGThe pool area with complimentary bikesIMG_1412.JPGIMG_1426.JPGA delicious full-service restaurant…IMG_1409.JPGA nice, accommodating bar, inside and out….IMG_1422.JPGIMG_1488.JPGIMG_1489.JPGVery close to one of our favorite restaurants, which we did enjoy one evening…IMG_1496.JPG

And, some we would love to try in the future.IMG_1445.JPGSome of the festivities we enjoyed were, of course, shopping and lunching….but some of the best which we highly recommend are:

1).  Nightime at The Dallas Arboretum.….  We enjoyed The Twelve Nights of Christmas, which is from 6-9 p.m.  You can enjoy live music, lighted areas galore, hot mulled wine and other yummy snacks.  But the biggest treat was the 12 gazebos each themed to the song, “The Twelve Days of Christmas.”  They were beautiful..  You are also able to bring in outside food/drink.  And, we got two-for-one tix on Groupon!! 2) Horse-drawn Carriage through Highland Park:  We actually did this last year and LOVED IT!!!  There are several companies that offer this, so shop around.  And, these book up fast, so make sure to shop early.  You are able to bring your own food and beverages and most provide blanketsDSC_0226.JPGDSC_0257.JPG

So magical!

3). Enchant Christmas:  We were planning on doing this from Hayley and Auldon’s recommendation, but were short on time.  It is a Christmas-themed, German village with ice skating, mazes, snow, lights, village shops, restaurants and pub.  Maybe next year we can squeeze this in….

A little side diversion:  We celebrated Pope’s third birthday at Mutt’s Canine Cantina.IMG_1506.JPGIMG_1505Of course, Nola was invited.  I am not going to lie, she was a “Nervous Nelly” with all of these strange dogs.  She played a little, but spent most time underneath my legs.IMG_1509.JPGIMG_1511.JPGIMG_1512.JPGIMG_1537.JPGIMG_1516.JPGIMG_1517.JPGIMG_1523.JPGIMG_1550.JPGIMG_1542.JPGIMG_1554.JPGPope enjoyed the mud and cake a lot as you can see!!!

All in all, we enjoyed being with family, celebrating the holiday season with the ones we love!

Hopefully, we have given you some ideas to celebrate the season in Dallas!
