Big Little Lies Viewing with “Ocean Water”

IMG_5345.JPGHayley and I have just finished Season 1 of Big Little Lies, starring Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Meryl Streep and Laura Dern, among others.  We are now rapidly making our way through Season 2.  It has us on an official BINGE.

To go with our viewing, we decided to make a cocktail to imbibe on while we watch.  If you know anything about the show, it takes place in Monterey, California.  Every scene seems to be one of the ocean with the waves crashing on the shore.

And, with Monterey housing the eighth largest aquarium in the United States, Monterey Bay Aquarium, we thought it would be fun to drink from a fish bowl with an ocean-themed drink.

You might want to invite several friends over to help you drink this one (except maybe Otis Campbell). IMG_5327.JPGYou start with pineapple juice, coconut rum, and blue curaçao.fullsizeoutput_4184.jpegI used this pineapple juice, because it had no added sugar.fullsizeoutput_4181.jpegYou mix 2 parts pineapple juice, 1 part coconut rum and 1 part blue curacao and pour into a fish bowl.  Cover and refrigerate.  fullsizeoutput_4180.jpegJust before serving, add some Swedish Fish, ice and some straws. (But make sure you cut the straws down the middle to save the aquatic sea life.) And, you’ve got yourself some “Ocean Water.”fullsizeoutput_417f.jpegfullsizeoutput_417e.jpegfullsizeoutput_417d.jpegfullsizeoutput_417c.jpegfullsizeoutput_417b.jpegfullsizeoutput_4178.jpegHave you watched Big Little Lies?  Are you as hooked as we are?
