Did you know that about 1 in every 8 women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime? Did you that in the year 2019, 268,600 cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in the U.S.? And, about 41,600 are expected to die from breast cancer this year.
But, the good news is that breast cancer rates are on the decline due to early detection, prevention, and treatment advances.
With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, let’s spread the word and try and fight this horrible disease even more.
On October 20, I will be hosting, along with Sleek Physique of Shreveport, “Yoga For A Cause.”
I will be doing an hour of yoga with you and your friends at 2:30 p.m. We will be taking donations of any amount, and the money will go toward breast cancer awareness and research with Susan G. Komen . You do not need to be a member of Sleek Physique to attend. All you need is a mat.
To be perfectly honest, this is near and dear to my heart. Breast cancer runs in my family. My grandmother and her three sisters all developed the disease. Two did not survive.
And, I personally had a scare with it a few years ago.
Where mine was luckily caught early, I was spared chemotherapy and radiation. But, I did have to undergo surgery to have a lump removed. With prevention and care, I have stayed cancer-free for five years now.
So, with all of the research and preventable medicine, breast cancer does not have to be fatal.
SO DON YOUR BEST PINK GET UP AND COME SUPPORT OUR CAUSE WITH YOGA!!!!!
